more chinese, more good!

交谈.

今天练拳时, 稍稍偷懒了. 反而和一名巫族家长 (auntie) 聊了起来. 是有关学业的

auntie: 'all this while i've made xxx focus on english and maths.'

我: 'then malay leh? good or not? should be okay right? speak malay at home'

auntie: 'janet, you know huh... 'i've made a mistake. all this while we've spoken english from my grandfather's time. but, u know, it's our mother tongue that we've neglected! so now i try to teach xxx malay and force myself to speak malay'

我: *being very pro-mother tongue* 'ya. mother tongue very important you know! you see, all don't know mother tongue, how can!'

auntie: 'but you see, in school, if you focus on malay and maths, and you fail english, you fail everything!'

我: 'oh. so primary school also practises such policy?'

auntie: 'yes! you don't know only! so might as well focus on english!'

我: 'ok la. nevermind. still young. at most go malay tuition lor. i need to go back to training already'

你们看. 大家忽略母语是为什么呢?! 难道你们听说过 'english b' 这种东西吗? 为什么母语就要分级? 分级, 弄我 '愤极' 就有. 气愤到极点. 另外, 为什么每个中学生都得修 'social studies' 为一些理工学院的课程基本入学条件? 我的其中一位中学同学, 因此科不及格而进不了会计... 我的数学不好, 我的 'maths b' 在哪里?

那为何那些母语不及格的还不是无所谓呢? 天理何在? 不及格也罢了, 最糟糕的是, 进了理工学院就不必修华文, 即使来到初院, 也有 'chinese b'. 未免太轻易放过他们了吧. 如此一来, 如何强调母语的重要性呢?

何不, 就颁发奖学金给每个 H2 华文的同学吧! 谢谢了!
